The Team

Kenneth W. Hladun

Ken's career begins in research and development, to the glass manufacturing industry and then to thermal processing of waste.  Ken holds patents for special devices for pyrolysis, combustion and gasification.  He has designed, built and operated facilities based on his patents.

Ken has a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Physics from McMaster University in Canada and a MSc from the University of Sheffield in England

Peter V. Hewka, Ph.D. .
Vice President

An accomplished instrumentation and controls specialist and an expert in solid state physics. He pioneered the process of growing ultra pure germanium crystals for detectors used in the nuclear industry. It was one of the crystals he produced which first detected the Chornobyl reactor fallout. Pete is also multi-lingual and has extensive experience in the countries of the former Soviet Union.  His many technical accomplishments are not only related to his specialty but also to development of process control methods and their associated algorithms.

Pete has a BSc from St. Josephs College in Philadelphia and a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania.

James R. Frederick, Ph.D.
Vice President

Formally educated as a chemical engineer and a biochemist, Jim has not only made significant contributions to process innovations but also has distinguished himself in the administrative matters related to the procurement of permits to construct and operate, developing standard operating procedures and health and safety  issues.

Jim has a BS degree with distinction in Biology and Mathematics and an AB with distinction in Chemistry and Physycs as well as a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania and a Post Doctoral Chemical Engineering at Iowa State University and OSDOE Ames Laboratory.
